Second Chances

As an oncologist, I have frequently heard cancer survivors share that they have been given a second chance to live following their diagnosis. This often comes as an expression of gratitude, in acknowledging that one would wish to lead a better new life. While there are diversities among each individual's beliefs, attitudes and approaches to life, hope is the cornerstone that inspires one to walk on in all seasons. This Jubilee Year 2025 is a call for us to journey in hope!

The uncertainty in life brings fear, but if we approach this challenging earthly life as a pilgrimage and treat it as a journey of blessings, we may find peace and joy. While our eyes can't see, it's through prayers, reflections and support from the spiritual community that we discover God's grace and guidance in our daily life.

Like the sun, He continues to shine on earth though there are times when we see only darkness. It is, as such, important for us to cherish and remember the good sunny days when we encounter His love and the beautiful moments God consoles us with His grace. All these lovely memories assure us of His love for us, giving us hope to walk on amidst tough times.

As every sunrise reminds us of the unconditional love of God, each living moment is an opportunity for us to encounter God, to be embraced by His presence and to live as His witnesses. If we ever find ourselves burdened by fear and discouragement again, it is time to turn to Him in prayer, reflecting on His grace for us. May we open our hearts and let the light of God illuminate our path and rekindle in us hope at all times.
