May 2025 Reflection: For Working Conditions

Here I am, contemplating whether I should reflect on this in a conventional way or take an unconventional approach instead.

At the end of the reflection video, a prayer was said, ‘Let us pray that through work, each person might find fulfilment, families might be sustained in dignity and that society might be humanised.’ Simple, no?

Prayers are always easy to say… but to believe, commit and achieve through action, is not easy. Nowadays, having a job is something that everyone needs to survive.

A job can be a reason we wake up in the morning, a job that we look forward to having reason to continue living or reason to tell ourselves that we are alive, but it doesn’t mean that it will bring fulfilment. At the end of the day, we live life seemingly like robots. Turn on and turn off for a recharge then repeat.

Alright, that is an unconventional way to look at it.

Now comes the conventional way.  We all have our own purpose that was written even before we were born (Jeremiah 1:5). Our job is to diligently and persistently look for that purpose and continue to hold on to hope even at the verge of giving up.

The job that we work on is part of our mission on earth and it is our duty to fulfil them in God’s way. Our other job is to remember to keep praying for those who are less fortunate and keep on giving hope to those in need. Hands to lend.
