There were times in my life when things became hard and overwhelmingly difficult. The challenges felt unbearable, as though I was trapped in a tunnel with no glimmer of light at the end. Then, it dawned on me: What is left for me to do? If I am in this tunnel, what must I do?
"I can only move forward and hope that I will get out of the darkness"
That sentence whispered in my ear. It was at that moment I truly experienced the essence of hope. Not as a promise that things would get easy, but as a reminder that perseverance leads to reward. When life feels too overwhelming, I can only move forward, holding on to enduring hope. Because, to me, hope is a wonderful yet powerful word.
Hope gives me comfort when I grieve.
Hope gives me courage when I am afraid.
Hope gives me light when I am in darkness.
Hope gives me strength when I feel weak.
Hope gives me patience when I am waiting.
Hope gives me purpose when I wander.
When I reflect upon it, I realize that hope is not about denying reality. It is about imagining a future brighter than the present. Then, it gives me the courage to take one more step, to face one more day, and to find meaning even in moments of despair.
Hope is God's universal gift to all of us. A gift that remains even when all seems lost. A gift that is for everyone, for me and for you, always present, waiting to light our way. Therefore, let us pray that we may find hope in all adversity and share it with those seeking it. May we all become pilgrims of Christian hope, bringing with us the Jubilee strength.
Amen.
