In work, a person expresses and partially realises the potential inherent in their nature. The fundamental value of labour originates from the individual, who is both its creator and its beneficiary. Work exists to serve people, not the other way around. Everyone should have the opportunity to earn through work the resources needed to support their own life, their family and to contribute to the broader human community.
